If we want to have a life free from unnecessary worry and sorrow,
it’s time to focus on our breath, which is the most powerful
connection to life.
The cynical philosopher Diogenes believed that man’s happiness lies in natural life and
that only self-sufficiency, frugality, self-knowledge and exercise can ensure it.
Nature teaches us how to let go of what is unnecessary and take advantage of every
season to strengthen the body. But most importantly, how to trust life itself, to love the journey
and to live in wisdom and harmony.
The “Breathe and Restart Your Life” Pnoi Retreat has been created

The place that will provide us with accommodation and half board is the Akros
Oreon Guesthouse www.akrosoreon-crete.gr, located at the southern slopes of the
Dikti mountain range, 12 km far from the Libyan Sea, in a lush valley, in the largest
pine forest of Crete. The land that surrounds the guesthouse is 10 acres and
provides depending on the season with various local organic products: honey, olive
oil, fruits and vegetables.
We will approach both, the sea and the mountains.

We welcome you, and make the first contact and acquaintance between us, drinking
tea from the herbs of Crete At the afternoon (6pm) Elena Papaioannou will
introduce you to the theory of breathing and we’ll practice breathing exercises for
relaxation and restful sleep.
We begin early in the morning (8 am) with stretching, mild exercise and breathing exercises
10am Introduction to the art of breathing. Proposals of nasal breathing.
Silent practice that will bring you in touch with your mind and your soul.

Kato Simi – In the forest
This circular walk starts directly at the accommodation; we walk to the
village and for there a steep path leads up to a viewpoint with great views
over the surrounding villages and the sea. We continue at dirt tracks
through the pine tree forest, pass an archaeological site and return via Ano
Simi, an almost abandoned settlement back to Akros Oreon.

Kalami – Village life once upon a time
This circular walk around the village Kalami offers on a short distance a
variety of beautiful landscapes. It is an easy walk on a dirt track without
much high distance. Kalami itself has an interesting history which we will
hear while crossing the village. Later we drive to the costal village Sidonia
for a dive in the Libyan sea. Here live nowadays most of the former
inhabitants of Kalami.
